In Pesaro, a seaside town and city of music, ranquillity and hospitality provide the background for shows and events in a territory with a rich patrimony of art where you can find historic centres and ancient hamlets still perfectly preserved. Each year Pesaro renews its appointment with music and the Rossini Opera Festival summons music lovers from all over the world. PESARO BLUE FLAG: Pesaro stands out among the 16 BLUE FLAGS that the Marche region obtained in 2011. Apart from its clean sea an the presence of purification plants, Pesaro has been awarded for its beach facilities, the administration of the territory and its energy efficiency.

Set between the regions of Romagna and the Marche, a few kilometres from the Adriatic Riviera, it has an exemplar history and an enchanting landscape. A magical locality with an antique flavour, where legend and history mingle to tell the tragic tale of love between Paolo and Francesca, celebrated by Dante, Petrarca, Boccaccio and D'Annunzio. Walking along its lanes, especially at night-time, by the illuminated fortress and surrounded by secular oak trees, bestows to lovers a unique and romantic setting, where love, poetry and history blend with the magnificent landscape.

An ancient town, the capital of the county of Montefeltro. The town gave shelter to Dante and St. Francis of Assisi. In the fortress, transformed into a prison during the pontifical domination, the Count of Cagliostro and Felice Orsini were incarcerated there.
The conservation of the architectural patrimony is remarkable: the pre-Romanic Parish church, the Lombard Romanic cathedral of the 12th Century, the Fortress and the Museum of Sacred Art recently laid out in the Palazzo Mediceo.

The town is famous for its carnival, the oldest in Italy. The symbol of the town is Augusto’s Arch, the main entrance in Roman times to the “Colonia Julia Fanestris”. It is the ideal starting point for excursions to towns with a rich history in art, and hosts important events and manifestations, even at an international level which make it a lively town animated by tourism.

The Conero Natural Regional Park

Established in 1987, but managed only since 1991 by the Conero Park Regional Ente Regionale Parco del Conero. The Conero, with its 572 metres is the only promontory with a sheer drop to the sea from Trieste to Gargano. It encloses mountains, nature, art and history, leaving nothing to be desired in this park.

Natural Regional Park of Mount San Bartolo

Established in 1994 it extends over 1600 hectares (4,000 acres). It represents the beginning of the coastal hillside of central Italy and has an abundance of historic interest, thanks to the Neolithic findings, the lost ports of Greek origin and the Renaissance villas.

Natural Park of Sasso Simone and Simoncello

Established in 1994, it extends over 4847 hectares. It presents itineraries for trekking, mountain-bikes and horse-riding. Inside, there is an interesting fauna route to learn about domestic and wild animals. The Geological Garden, although only small, is abundant with arboreal plants and autochthone shrubs.

The “Gola della Rossa” and Frasassi Natural Regional Park

Founded in 1997, it is the biggest regional protected area of the Marche. More than 36 artistic, architectonic and naturalistic itineraries. Included in the area of the Esino-Frasassi Mountain Community, it includes the subterranean complex of the Caves of Frasassi, a suggestive example of a Karst phenomenon.

Monti Sibillini National Park

The park lies in the region of the Sibilla and is enriched by a multitude of endemic species, charming abbeys, medieval towns and boundless panoramas in which it is also possible to admire lake Fiastra and lake Pilato.

Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park

It is one of the biggest parks of Italy where the treasures of nature live together with the relevant cultural patrimony: ancient quarters, archaeological sites, castles, sanctuaries, abbeys, small churches of rock, monasteries and caves. It is characterised by the presence of the only Apennine glacier, the Calderone.
